A flexible spending plan is available for either the standard or HSA medical plan. The IRC 125 plan provides for reimbursement of out-of-pocket healthcare and dependent care expenses on a favorable pre-tax basis.
Boldt Carlisle + Smith encourages all employees to obtain 40 hours of outside continuing education each year. Appropriate subjects include accounting, auditing, and taxation for professional staff and computer skills, behavioral skills, and industry specific courses for all employees. In addition, the firm sponsors periodic continuing education courses taught by some of our highly skilled employees or trained instructors from outside the firm. Our cost of providing this very important benefit to all staff is approximately $2,000 per employee annually.
Vacation time is accrued based upon length of service. The maximum accumulation is 160 hours. At June 30 of each year amounts accrued in excess of 160 hours are paid to the employee at their current earnings rate.
Total hours worked in excess of hours paid for exempt employees is considered flex time. Flex time will accumulate and may be used during the year to make up shortages in the monthly accountable hours.
In compliance with Oregon law 1 hour of every 30 hours worked will accrue up to 40 hours per year. The maximum accumulation is 80 hours. At June 30 of each year amounts accrued in excess of 80 hours are paid to the employee at their current earnings rate.
Parking is provided free of charge at all three of our office locations.
Passed exam fees are reimbursed after completion of all exams.
Cost of exam study materials is reimbursed up to $1,500.
Boldt Carlisle + Smith pays professional dues for our licensed employees as follows:

- American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
- Oregon Board of Accountancy
Boldt Carlisle + Smith provides term life insurance, dependent life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage through Standard Insurance Company. This coverage is $50,000 or one year’s salary, whichever is greater.
Boldt Carlisle + Smith encourages its employees to become active in the Salem, Keizer, Stayton, Albany, and surrounding communities by participating in the membership of a service club or professional organization. Some of the choices include: Exchange, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimist, Rotary, or Soroptomist International. The firm will pay membership dues for one club per employee.
The firm pays $20 per month toward an employee’s monthly dues.
Boldt Carlisle + Smith provides a membership at Costco for employees and spouses.
